Nicole Richie Gearing Up For Baby No. 2 With Wasabi Cravings

Nicole Richie is expecting her second child with boyfriend Joel Madden later this summer and she told Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos the couple’s impending arrival is coming with a host of cravings.

“More cravings actually,” Nicole told Maria on Thursday in Los Angeles as she launched the “Nicole” collection at A Pea In The Pod. “I eat a lot of Wasabi right now, which I actually hate in my real life. So we’ll see. We’ll see what happens, we’ll see if I end up hating it again, or if I have a newfound love for it.”

Nicole said her daughter, Harlow, 17 months, is thrilled to have a sibling on the way.

“She’s very excited,” Nicole said.

Nicole also revealed why she was chose to show off her blooming belly in a bikini at the beach recently. She said the move wasn’t to show off her shape, but “more just swimming.”

“But you’re appreciating your body, most people would just cover it up, Maria said.

“Right… I just don’t think that there’s a need to do that,” Nicole said, turning her talk to her new clothing line, which doesn’t include bikinis. “I think that the last thing a woman wants to feel like is that they have to change their whole entire wardrobe just because they’re pregnant. You have enough going on and you have enough to worry about. I just don’t think that, that’s another thing you need to add onto your plate, so I just really wanted to make it easy and fun for women to wear clothes while they’re pregnant.”

Nicole explained that inspiration for her new maternity clothing line comes from her own closet.

“I got it out of my own wardrobe and I’m very inspired by the ‘60s and ‘70s, so I pulled a lot from that,” she said. “I mean I wear a lot of loose clothing to begin with, just in my regular life, so I kind of just tweaked the styles that I wear on an everyday basis and made them a little more maternity friendly.”
