Nicole Richie: My Family Is Off-Limits On Reality TV

Paris Hilton might have returned to reality TV, giving fans an inside look into her personal life, but fellow former “The Simple Life” star Nicole Richie is choosing to keep her loved ones away from the cameras.

The mother of two and style icon stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday, where she told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover that she wouldn’t want her family on a reality show like “Keeping Up with The Kardashians” or “The World According to Paris.”

”‘The Simple Life’ was really about taking us and putting us in a different situation for about 30 days, so it really had nothing to do with my family and my personal life,” Nicole, who has two kids (daughter Harlow, age 3, and son Sparrow, who turns 2 on September 9) with husband Joel Madden, said when asked about the possibility of doing a reality series about her life.

“Could you do the personal life, docu-style, [with] cameras in the house with Joel and the kids?” Billy asked.

“I am definitely a private person when it comes to my family, so I would say no,” the 29-year-old said.

Despite her desire to keep her family away from the cameras, Nicole herself will return to reality TV in 2012 on NBC’s “Fashion Star” with Jessica Simpson, designer John Varvatos and Elle Macpherson.

“It’s so much fun, I get to work with great people,” she said of the series that recently wrapped its first season.

Nicole, who has two of her own fashion lines – House of Harlow 1960 and Winter Kate – is taking part in Fashion’s Night Out on September 8. To find out more on this worldwide shopping event with numerous stars and designers, CLICK HERE!
