Nikki Blonsky’s Sweet Homecoming

Last year, a complete unknown, Nikki Blonsky found out she’d been chosen to star in “Hairspray,” while she was on the job at a local ice cream shop. Access Hollywood was with her as Blonsky’s journey came full circle.

Earlier this week an overwhelmed “Hairspray” star Nikki Blonsky returned to the same Long Island Cold Stone Creamery she used to work at. Around one hundred fans, lined up to see their new hometown hero roll up her sleeves and create her own ice cream flavor.

“When I worked here, there wasn’t this many people excited about ice cream,” Blonsky told Access.

Also exciting? The film’s soundtrack has jumped from number 20 to number 4 on the charts.

“Queen [Latifah] has called me,” Blonsky said. “I had dinner with John a few nights ago and we are all just ecstatic.”

Speaking of calls, Blonsky had some fun with her dad this morning, pranking him on New York radio station Z-100. The Rising Star’s ruse? She’d be going nude in her next role.

“You have little kids that are fans of you,” her dad said after Nikki told him the (joking) news.

“It will help them grow up,” she replied.

“Nikki, what’s the matter with you,” Blonsky’s father cried.

With dad getting more upset, Nikki finally revealed it was just a prank.

“Oh my god,” he screamed.

“I love you dad,” Nikki said.
