No Ruling In Britney, K-Fed Custody Case; Decision Expected Next Week

Britney Spears will have some custody of her two children over this coming weekend according to Kevin Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, although no formal ruling was issued Friday in the embattled former couple’s custody case.

Spears and Federline met in a downtown Los Angeles Superior courtroom today for hearings over the custody of their two children. The previous custody arrangement between the parents of Sean Preston (2) and Jayden James (1) was to have expired today.

Britney and Kevin will both know more about the longer term custody arrangement when the Commissioner in the case issues new orders early next week. Commissioner Scott Gordon’s ruling on custody is expected on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

It was a dramatic day in court, however, as Britney Spears began cursing after storming out of the closed-door hearing.

“Eat it! Lick it! Snort it! F*** it!“…

… That’s what Access heard Britney repeating just after 4 PM Pacific to a reporter who tried to ask her a question, as she was escorted out by attorney Ann Kiley during one of several breaks the pop singer took over the course of the hearing. Kiley was heard whispering to Spears, “Smile. Just smile.”

Spears’ former assistant, Alli Sims, also ran to her side in an attempt to calm her down and comfort her.

A sobbing Britney then returned to the courtroom for the final time on Friday, to presumably hash out more details.

The court drama began early Friday morning as dozens of members of the media from across the world staked out places surrounding the courthouse.

As time crept closer to Spears’ hearing, hundreds of journalists and onlookers packed the streets waiting for Spears, who drove herself to her hearing in a new Mercedes.

Spears looked flustered as the media swarmed her car. During the melee, a member of Access Hollywood’s affiliate, KNBC, had his foot run over.

Authorities were forced to intervene due to the chaos, directing Spears to a side entrance, where she parked her car. Wearing a southwestern-inspired print dress and carrying a white Louis Vuitton handbag, the pop singer was guarded by an officer as she entered the court building and proceeded to head upstairs.

Kevin Federline also turned up to the hearing, to far less fanfare, sneaking in a side entrance, according to Access Hollywood sources who saw the rapper-turned-actor head in.

Before either parent arrived, several motions were heard from their respective lawyers during the court’s morning session.

Despite arguments from K-Fed’s lawyer, Spears counsel, Thomas Paine Dunlap, won a motion to stop the taping of deposition testimony, arguing that it would end up on YouTube and other media outlets. Dunlap argued that Spears had a right to privacy on that issue and though Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled in favor of his motion, he suggested that the pop singer courts “inordinate amounts of media,” the Associated Press reported.

“I’m not chastising her,” Gordon said. “She’s an adult. But what I’m saying is someone who is always going to places where there is an inordinate amount of media, it doesn’t square.”

The afternoon hearing took place behind closed doors, but the morning hearing had plenty of press present. Everyone who went into the courtroom had to pass through an additional metal detector, which was put just outside the room.

Additionally, cell phones were taken from those who had a seat in the room.

According to the AP, Dunlap complained about some of the procedures, prompting the Commisioner to suggest they “may be a manufacture of your client.”

When Spears eventually left the courthouse for the day, she seemed distraught. Back behind the wheel, she pulled out of the underground parking garage, nearly hitting another car and almost running over a deputy.
