Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Strug Weds

Olympic gold medalist Kerri Strug – best known for sticking the landing on an injured ankle at in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta – has landed herself a groom.

According to People, Kerri married attorney Robert Fischer at sunset in her hometown of Tucson, Ariz. on Sunday.

“Robert always wants to make me happy,” the 32-year-old told the mag. “He’s a little old-fashioned. He really courted me, and for a while. To this day, he still gives me flowers on a regular basis.”

The couple reportedly held their reception at the Skyline Country Club, which was decorated with hundreds of orchids. The happy couple also had a fireworks show for their 200 guests and served tea and fresh scones as a morning snack, People reported.

Kerri wore a Pronovias gown on her big day that had over 5,000 Swarovski crystals adorning it.

The couple’s guests included fellow Olympic star Dominique Moceanu and her former coach, Bela Karolyi.

Before the newlyweds dove into their wedding cake, Kerri told her guests, “I’ll be honest: I’m really excited about the cake. Remember, I was on a diet for a lot of my life!”
