Olympic Guy Candy: Shooting Double Trap Gold Medalist Glenn Eller

Shooting might not get the most coverage of all Olympic sports, but that doesn’t mean their gold medals don’t count just as equally in the medal tally.

Case Study A: Houston, Texas native Glenn Eller.

One week ago, Glenn won the gold in the men’s double trap final, hitting 45 of 50 targets to win to best competition from Italy (silver) and China (bronze). His U.S. teammate placed fourth.

Unassuming, polite and modest – Glenn is the type of gold medalist you want to take home to mom. And according to his official page on NBCOlympics.com: he’s single.

So, who are the coolest people Glenn’s met since he’s been in Beijing?

“I met the First Lady,” he said. “She wished me good luck on my events.”
Glenn also enjoyed meeting Kobe Bryant on Opening Ceremonies night.

When not competing, Glenn serves full time with the U.S. Army, training in shooting.

Before he was an Olympic shooter, Glenn pole vaulted in high school.

When it comes to entertainment tastes, Glenn loves to listen to rock and country – he counts Nickelback and Live amongst his favorite bands.

Glenn’s favorite recent movie? “Charlie Wilson’s War” – “I loved Tom Hanks’ one-liners in that one,” Glenn said.

As for TV: well, he’s a big fan of “ The Family Guy.”
