On The Download: Britney Spears, ‘Hold It Against Me’

It’s a brand new year, and what better way to start off 2011 than with new music from The Legendary Miss Britney Spears?

Rumors and speculation on what Britney’s new music would sound like have been abuzz for a while now, and after teasing us with tweet after tweet, the pop diva has officially released “Hold It Against Me,” the explosive lead track from her upcoming album.

Proving that she’s still on the cutting edge of pop music, Britney has jumped into the land of techno and Euro-pop with what is sure to be a smash hit. In fact, some radio stations are already playing it every hour! Britney’s long-time collaborators, Max Martin and Dr. Luke, produced the catchy club anthem.

“Hold It Against Me” hits hard from the get go with a thumping bass line. Towards the middle of the track, Britney asks, “If I Said I Wanted Your Body, Would You Hold It Against Me?” in her signature breathy vocal style.

At a time in music when female pop stars are more popular than ever, this single is exactly what Britney needs to recapture her pop princess crown. The blogosphere is set on a Britney vs. Lady Gaga battle since both are releasing new records this spring… looks like Britney has thrown an impressive first punch!

The still untitled seventh album from the multi-platinum international superstar will be out in March. Fans have the opportunity to purchase “Hold It Against Me” exclusively in the iTunes store until January 18.
