‘Once Upon A Time’: Colin O’Donoghue & Jennifer Morrison Preview Hook & Emma’s Date Night

Emma Swan and Hook are going on a date in this Sunday’s “Once Upon a Time,” and the reformed pirate is sprucing up his look for the big night.

During a visit to the “OUAT” set this week, Colin O’Donoghue revealed that he’s got not only new duds for the episode, but something else.

“He has both hands for the date,” Colin said, after ABC flew AccessHollywood.com up to the show’s Vancouver set, where they made us their guests on Tuesday. “He makes a deal with Rumple to get his hand back so that he can use his left hand if he needs to.”

Having fingers instead of a steel hook will come in handy as the pair are heading out for an Italian meal.

“We have a nice pasta,” Colin said.

And it’s very possible that the Italian dinner date may have a connection to another Disney film. We can’t say for sure, but while speaking with Lana Parrilla, Access brought up one fan’s hope to see “Lady and the Tramp” worked into the ABC drama eventually, and she revealed there is an Easter egg to that very film in an upcoming episode (sure sounds like this one!).

“We have an episode coming up [where] there’s a little ‘Lady and the Tramp’ moment. That’s coming up. It’s very short lived, but it’s super cute,” she said.

We’ll have to wait until Sunday to see if this episode fits that bill, but something we do know about the Emma/Hook outing is that Will Scarlet/aka The Knave (Michael Socha) will make an appearance.

“On the date, they bump into Will Scarlet and he knocks a glass of wine over on Emma,” Colin said.

But don’t worry “Once” fans, Will may not ruin things. Colin promised another Emma/Hook lip lock.

“We have a bit of a cheeky smooch at the end,” he told reporters.

In last week’s episode, Emma confessed that she’s been distant from Hook because she cares about him and she’s worried that he could face the same fate as the other men she’s dated. But, the two are moving forward with their romance, despite the baggage they both carry.

With all this in mind, Access asked why Emma and Hook are willing to fight for this relationship.

“The simple fact is that they both have very strong feelings for each other and they’re trying to make that work and going on the date – they’re trying to sort of make some sort of relationship work or see if that could [work],” Colin said.

“And it’s also about feeling like you belong somewhere,” Jennifer added. “I think that that is representative of a lot of things. You can look at it individually about Hook or Emma and their feelings about each other and all of that, but the reality is everyone wants to feel like they belong, and everyone wants to know a family and everyone wants a community that they’re supported by and this is the first time in both of their lives that they really have that.

“Captain Hook obviously had his ship and his mates and the whole thing, but it was kind of like those were the people he was in charge of and they had to do what he said, whereas now he’s a part of a group of people that care about him and are starting to trust him, and he’s starting to trust them and he’s feeling a part of a group of people in a more communal way and the same thing for Emma,” Jennifer continued. “She’s really embraced Storybrooke as her home and realized that she went from feeling like she had no family to having a huge family… and community and I don’t think anyone would turn their back on that.”

But, they both also love the thrill of a little danger.

“They’re just that couple who like to fight monsters. Some people like to go skiing,” Colin said.

“We’re such an adventurous couple,” Jennifer chimed in.

“We’re such adventurous people. We get to go out and fight ogres and kill monsters,” he added.

“Once Upon a Time” continues Sunday night at 8/7c on ABC.
