Oprah Winfrey Reveals The Birthday Gift From Employees That Made Her Cry

Oprah Winfrey had the quite 60th birthday with giant roses from Cicely Tyson, iced tea with Maria Shriver, a mountain of beautifully wrapped gifts to open – but she revealed to Access Hollywood that a gift from her employees was the “best gift ever!”

Access’ Liz Hernandez caught up with Oprah at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival where she received the Montecito Award and revealed how her employees brought tears to her eyes.

“For my birthday I had all of my employees take the day off and they just gave me a book of all the things that they did on my day off,” she said.

And after seeing her staff enjoying their free day, it made Oprah’s waterworks run.

“It made me cry because normally you say to people take the day off, I said, ‘Take the day off, I want everybody to enjoy my birthday, I want you to do something relaxing and fun.’ Don’t take the day off and go pay your bills,” she explained.

“They put this book together of all these fun things they did. I think that is the best gift ever!” she added. “That other people really enjoyed the day and it really was a gift to them. So that was wonderful.”
