Oprah Winfrey has been an outspoken proponent of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, but her support won’t be rewarded — at least not financially.
According to Vanity Fair, the Illinois senator’s tax policies — aimed at benefiting the middle class — would cost the media queen $25 million a year more than Sen. John McCain’s tax plan. Under McCain, in fact, Oprah would reportedly save over $9 million.
That doesn’t seem to bother Oprah, who has stumped for Obama and publicly vouched for the candidate.
“I’m euphoric, I’ve been doing the happy dance all day,” Oprah said in a statement released to Access Hollywood when Obama clinched the Democratic nomination in June. “If he wants me to, I’m ready to go door to door.”
With the general election next Tuesday, Obama himself will reach into people’s homes on Wednesday night, as his 30-minute infomercial airs on NBC, CBS, Fox and Univision at 8 PM.
