Orange Is The New Black’s Taylor Schilling: ‘I Am Having So Much Fun!’

Taylor Schilling is riding high on a wave of success with her new series for Netflix, “Orange Is the New Black,” and on Tuesday, she said it feels good.

“I kind of feel like I’m awake in a dream to be doing this kind of work, and this kind of work, reaching this many people, you know? Like a story that I think is really important and characters that I think we’re ready to really ingest,” Taylor said, when she spoke with Access Hollywood at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 2013 Installation Luncheon at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Tuesday.

In “Orange Is the New Black,” which premiered on Netflix on July 11, the former “Mercy” star plays Piper Chapman, a woman who ends up in prison for a crime she committed years ago – transporting drug money for her girlfriend at the time — Alex Vause (Laura Prepon).

The series is based on a memoir from public relations worker Piper Kerman, and was adapted by “Weeds” creator Jenji Kohan for the Netflix series.

“I am having so much fun,” Taylor said of enjoying the success of her show, which has been greenlit for a second season already.

With Season 2 in the works, Access asked if Taylor is working out to keep up with her fictional prison inmate co-stars.

“They give me a run for my frickin’ money,” the actress laughed.

“I’m not gonna get involved in any kind of physical competition with any of them,” she said (although, for those who have made it through the end of Season 1, there are some altercations between characters on the show). “I like to dance with them. It’s embarrassing, but I can’t help myself.”
