The “Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” star sported a red gown and mortarboard as he took his place along with more than 340 graduates for the ceremony at Canterbury Cathedral on Tuesday.

The 33 year old was born in Canterbury in Kent, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) from London.

He said ahead of Tuesday’s ceremony that he felt honored to be back in his hometown.

He was joined by his fiancee, Miranda Kerr, his parents and his sister Samantha.
