‘Outlander’: New Details On Premiere & Season 1

The wait for “Outlander” just got a little shorter.

Starz announced on Friday that the series premiere will be available beginning August 2 on various outlets.

According to the network, the first episode, titled “Sassenach” (which also means “Outlander” and becomes a nickname for Caitriona Balfe’s Claire Beauchamp Randall), will be available on select U.S. cable, satellite, and Telco Affiliates starting August 2.

It will also be available on Starz.com/Outlander, Starz’s “Outlander” Twitter and Facebook pages, and the network’s YouTube page.

It was also announced on Friday that the first season of the show will be split into two parts. The first eight episodes will air August 9 – September 27. The second set of episodes, starring Caitriona, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser and Tobias Menzies as Frank Randall/Black Jack Randall, returns sometime in early 2015.

The series, from Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore and based on the books by Diana Gabaldon, officially premieres August 9 at 9 PM on Starz.
