‘Outlander’ Season 2: Blu-Ray Exclusive Sneak Peek

“Outlander” Season 2 heads to Blu-ray and DVD on
November 1, but AccessHollywood.com has your exclusive look at one of the special features from the release right now.

From the book-to-screen bonus features section, the clip
includes interview footage with Executive Producer Maril Davis, who discusses
why Jamie and Claire didn’t spend their last night together at the crofter’s
cottage, like they did in Diana Gabaldon’s book.

“In the book, Jamie and Claire have one last passionate
moment in this crofter’s cottage, and then he gets attacked by redcoats and she
runs off and almost gets caught and then goes through the stones. Just due to
logistical difficulties, we didn’t have that crofter’s cottage, so we decided
to do it up at the stones,” Maril said in the clip.

Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore also addresses why Jamie and
Claire didn’t carve letters in each other’s hands in the clip, before the
featurette turns to Toni Graphia, who co-wrote the finale, as she discusses two
alternate endings.

“We did shoot two alternate endings for the season
finale,” Toni says in the featurette. “And in one of them, Claire,
upon learning Jamie survives Culloden, she looks at the stones and says, ‘If
that’s true, I have to go back,’ and the alternate to that was having her
daughter realize it and say, ‘You have to go back.’ We added that originally
because we didn’t want it to be like Claire so quickly just jumped to, ‘Oh
Jamie’s alive, I have to go,’ ’cause those of us who are parents in the room
were a little concerned like, ‘But would you leave your daughter?'”

“I don’t think Claire is saying it in the moment in a
literal sense,” Toni continues. “It’s just that she’s overcome with
emotion. She’s so happy to learn that Jamie survived. She knows as a mother
that it’s not something that’s going to happen quickly or easily, and it’s
something she’s going to need to struggle with also, and that’s all fodder for
next season.”

“Outlander” Season 2 is out digitally on October
31 and on Blu-ray and DVD on November 1.
