‘Outlander’: Starz Series Casts Ian Murray Role

There’s a new hunk in the “Outlander” family.

Steven Cree, from Glasgow, Scotland, will play Ian Murray in the series, Starz announced on Thursday.

Ian is the husband of Jamie Fraser’s sister, Jenny.

Steven recently did the voice of Young Macintosh in 2012’s animated feature, “Brave.” He also appeared in “300: Rise of an Empire,” and has a role in Angelina Jolie’s “Maleficent.”

For those unfamiliar with Diana Gabaldon’s books, Ian is a character who grew up with Jamie Fraser – the two were best friends as children and got into more than their fair share of scrapes. Ian, who lost part of his leg in a battle with the English, ended up marrying his best friend’s sister – Jenny (Laura Donnelly).

It will premiere on Starz in 2014.
