Over 1,000 Jackson Family Items Up For Bids!

UPDATED May 27, 2007) — If you’re a fan of the Jackson family — be it Michael, Janet, Jermaine, Tito, or La Toya – now’s your chance to own a piece of their history.

Guernsey’s auction house will be auctioning a massive collection of Jackson family memorabilia and personal belongings at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on May 30th and 31st. The collection of over a thousand items was acquired by transportation and delivery company Universal Express.

Michael Jackson has approved the items up for auction, and “is pleased that some of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to certain charities, ” said his spokesperson, Raymone K. Bain, in a statement. Items belonging to Michael Jackson will be accompanied by written authentication.

“We look forward to being able to introduce to the world the glory of the Jackson family and take great pride in the five charities that will benefit from the sale’s proceeds,” stated Richard A. Altomare, Chairman and CEO of Universal Express.

Access has learned that some of the items set for auction include:

Michael Jackson’s Bill Whitten Red & Gold Coat, his black fedora, handwritten song lyrics with notations, his wireless microphone, and his “Thriller” Gold Award from 1982!

Janet Jackson’s Mae West costume will be auctioned, as well as her ballet toe shoes.

Costumes worn by the Jackson 5 and a “Victory Tour” program signed individually by the Jacksons will also be up for grabs, along with hundreds of other items not mentioned here.

Arlan Ettinger, president of auction house Guernsey’s, told the Associated Press that the goods were insured by Lloyd’s of London for more than $100 million.

Ettinger would not speculate on how much the sale would net, although he said his company has fielded inquiries from as far away as Europe and the Far East.

Bidders can participate through liveauctioneers.com and eBay’s live auction site.

Looking down at one of Michael Jackson’s suede jackets, Ettinger shrugged.

“I can’t predict. Will this bring $500, $2,000, $20,000, $50,000? God only knows.”
