Owen Wilson’s Hospitalization Result Of Suicide Attempt

Owen Wilson’s hospitalization was a result of a suicide attempt, Access Hollywood has learned.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department’s Call for Service log, a call received on August 26 at 12:08 PM is listed as “Attempt Suicide.” The location is listed as being Wilson’s block of residence.

“I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time,” Wilson said in a statement to Access yesterday.

Wilson was reportedly found by a family member at his home on Sunday, who called for help.

Battalion Chief Torres of the Santa Monica Fire Department confirmed to Access that they received a call at 11:59am on Sunday regarding a gentleman by the name of Owen Wilson (Torres said he did not know Wilson’s profession).

“On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12:10 pm officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department.” the police said in a news release. “The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated.”

Wilson was taken to St. John’s Health Center, and later transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The hospital’s public relations director, Cynthia Harding, told Access yesterday that Wilson was in “good” condition.

Wilson was reportedly scheduled to begin shooting scenes in Hawaii for Ben Stiller’s upcoming Dreamworks film, “Tropic Thunder,” in the coming weeks.

A rep for DreamWorks issued a one-sentence statement to Variety that said, “Filming on ‘Tropic Thunder’ continues.” The studio, however, would not elaborate on whether Wilson is expected on the set or if his role would instead be recast.

Wilson was also cast opposite Jennifer Aniston in the 20th Century Fox comedy, “Marley & Me,” which was tentatively scheduled to begin production in January. When asked if production on “Marley & Me” would be affected, a Fox spokesman told Variety, “It’s a totally inappropriate question at this time when all of our thoughts and concerns are with his health and well being.”

Wilson will next be seen in Wes Anderson’s “Darjeeling Unlimited,” opening September 28, and in the Judd Apatow-produced film, “Drillbit Taylor,” opening in March.
