Paris Hilton Released From Jail, Put Under House Arrest

At a press conference held by LA County Sheriff’s Department authorities outside the jail, a spokesperson said they released the heiress from incarceration after speaking with medical doctors who have been dealing with her. Authorities declined to reveal more about Paris’ medical issues, which led to her release, due to confidentiality issues. Some reports has surfaced Paris was released because of a rash.

“She has been fitted with an ankle bracelet, she has been sent home and she will be confined to her home for the next forty days,” the spokesperson said.

Although she served only three full days, authorities said she got credit for five days. Due to the release, her sentence now reverts back to the original 45 days an LA judge gave her for breaking her DUI probation by driving without a license twice. She will serve 40 under house arrest due to the five days already credited.

K-EARTH 101 radio entertainment reporter Lisa Stanley said Paris was released via the same underground tunnel she snuck into jail through. Stanley said she spoke with Paris’ mother, Kathy Hilton in an emotional conversation last night where she learned a deal had been struck for the heiress.

“She will have to do a few things, it’s not just like she walks and that’s the end of this,” Stanley said earlier this morning. “She will have to attend that AA program that she never did attend from her original charges of reckless driving, which was reduced.”

Stanley said Kathy told her Paris will be on probation.

“Kathy didn’t know how long it would be, but it’s going to be well over a year I’m sure and her record of being in jail for the minor three days that she was there will not get expunged, so she will have a police record,” the Stanley reported.

Back at the heiress’ Hollywood Hills home, hoards of media set up feeds and were reporting from outside the property. In addition to the media chaos, several deliveries came toher door including flowers and cupcakes from Mrs. Beasley’s.

In related news, “The View’s” Elisabeth Hasselbeck has called Paris release this morning “disgusting.” Others including Al Sharpton and Project Islamic HOPE have also hit out at the heiress’ early release.

“Though I have nothing but empathy for Ms. Hilton whom I have met and appeared with on ‘Saturday Night Live’ the night I hosted in 2003, this early release gives all of the appearances of economic and racial favoritism that is constantly cited by poor people and people of color,” Sharpton said in a statement released to Access Hollywood.

“There are any number of cases of people who handle being incarcerated badly and even have health conditions that are not released . I have served several sentences for civil rights and civil disobedience actions and I even fasted which caused health concerns to prison authorities who paid for a doctor to come see me daily rather than release me. This act smacks of the double standards that many of us raise,” he concluded.

Project Islamic Hope leaders have reportedly called for an investigation of the Sheriff’s Department with regards to Hilton’s early release, according to City News Service.

“One rule for the rich and famous and different rules for everyone else,” black community activist Najee Ali, leader of Project Islamic HOPE told CNS.

Hilton checked into the facility Sunday night to begin serving a more than three-week sentence for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

The 26-year-old hotel heiress surrendered to authorities with little fanfare after a surprise appearance earlier that day at the MTV Movie Awards, where she worked the red carpet in a strapless designer gown.

She was held in a special unit where she was spending 23 hours a day in a solitary cell, her lawyer said.

After she checked in, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Hilton’s demeanor was helpful.

“She was focused; she was cooperative,” he said.

Hilton’s lawyer, Richard Hutton, said Monday after his client’s first night in jail that she was doing well under the circumstances.

The star of “The Simple Life” reality TV show pleaded no contest to a reckless-driving charge in January and was sentenced to 36 months’ probation. When she was later pulled over by the California Highway Patrol, Hilton was told that she was driving on a suspended license and signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive. She was then pulled over by sheriff’s deputies on Feb. 27 and charged with violating probation.
