Paris: ‘Thank God I’m Free!’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 27, 2007) — “Thank God I’m Free!”Paris Hilton summed up her feelings on being released from jail with those four simple words.Mere hours after her release, Paris told Speaking from the Bel Air home of her grandfather on Tuesday, Paris revealed that, despite her anxiety, she did have a support network of sorts while incarcerated: her fellow inmates.“All of the inmates were very supportive,” she said. “There were girls next to me. We could talk through the vents and they were just really sweet.”

Paris was also inspired in a more spiritual sense, she said.

“There was a nun who works at the jail for all the ladies, and she would come every day and we would pray”, she explained. “When I was alone I would pray to God to give me strength.”

And of the doubters out there who don’t think the experience changed her? The celebutante indicated it’s only a matter of “wait and see.”

“They’re wrong and they don’t know me,” she remarked. “I’m a good person. I’m a compassionate person. I have a big heart. I’m sincere, and they’ll see.”

A complete interview with Hilton, which she reportedly conducted free of charge, will be published in this Friday’s edition of PEOPLE magazine.

Meanwhile, Paris will participate in her first televised interview on “Larry King Live” tonight at 9:00 PM (EST).
