Pharrell Williams On That Grammy Hat

Pharrell Williams hasn’t actually taken time to reflect on the huge fashion splash he made with that hat he wore to the Grammys.

“I don’t know how to feel about it,” he told Access Hollywood’s Liz Hernandez at the Beatles tribute concert in Los Angeles on Monday night.

“I’m just so busy being appreciative for being acknowledged by the Academy that like I haven’t really had a moment to just breathe and say, ‘OK, this is real,’ because this has just been such a shock. … It’s humbling,” he added of picking up four Grammys on Sunday night, including Record of the Year for “Lucky,” which he made with French electronic duo Daft Punk.

On Sunday night, Pharrell turned up in a Vivienne Westwood “mountain hat,” and the rapper/singer/producer thinks it is the British designer herself who might be most surprised by the attention his hat received.

“I don’t know. I think maybe Vivienne Westwood would be — maybe she would be shocked. I don’t know. It’s her hat. It’s a Vienne Westwood buffalo look,” he said.

Pharrell was one of the many artists who took part in “The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles,” and he reflected on the Liverpool foursome’s legacy on the red carpet before the show.

“You know what? It’s The Beatles. [There] wouldn’t be any R&B if it wasn’t for The Beatles,” he said.
