Phelps On Kellogg’s Box, Not Wheaties, This September, Agent Tells Access

Olympic champ Michael Phelps will be the latest athlete on a cereal box, but it won’t be Wheaties.

There will be “no Wheaties box this time around; it’s going to be Kellogg’s,” Michael’s longtime agent Peter Carlisle exclusively broke to Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush.

Kellogg’s confirmed to Access that Phelps will appear on both Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes. Boxes will arrive on store shelves in mid-September.

The swimmer, who won eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, shattering Mark Spitz’s record of seven in a single Olympics, will also be posing for an iconic photo in homage to the famous image of Spitz in an American flag Speedo along with his medals, Peter told Billy.

With his goals at the Games achieved, Phelps’ next moves will include getting his fans to join him in the pool.

“We’re going to head out on a global media tour and then we’re going to go back to the States and try to make it around 10 or 15 different cities and try to promote the sport of swimming,” Peter said. “Michael will see some of the fans that he’s reached over the past week and have some fun.”

And with the eyes of billions on him at the Olympics, Phelps’ victories should earn him more than a few more endorsements. As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the swimmer already has deals with PowerBar, Omega, AT&T Wireless, Kellogg’s, Visa and Speedo, who promised him a $1 million bonus if he won all eight medals.

“I expect that Michael will be a global icon and he’ll have some interesting business opportunities along the way,” Peter said.
