Phillip Phillips: My Condition Won’t Stop Me From American Idol Finale

Phillip Phillips will hit the stage for the “American Idol” final on Tuesday night, but he insists that he wasn’t advised by his doctor not to do the show and have surgery, as some reports suggested.

“Nah, you can’t believe everything,” he laughed, in response to a question from AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman at a press junket for the “Idol” Final 2 on Monday.

The 21-year-old from Leesburg, GA, said the problems with his kidneys won’t stand in the way of taking the stage.

“It’s been kind of been going on ever since the show started,” he told Laura. “So there’s nothing really changed anything about it. Some days are just good and some days aren’t. So, [I’m] just pushing through it like I have been and just gonna give it my all.”

And fans could be in for a treat. The singer, who is often caught on stage in a T-shirt, said he might be switching things up.

“I don’t know. You might be in for a treat. I might be looking really sexy,” he laughed, of his planned “Idol” finale outfits. “Nah, I don’t know, you’ll have to see.”

The “American Idol” finale kicks off on Tuesday at 8/7c on FOX.
