Pink On Landing Her Cosmo Cover: I’ve Been Told, ‘You’re Not Pretty Enough’

Pink may be one of the music industry’s biggest stars, but it’s rare to see the singer on a magazine cover. In her cover story in June’s Cosmopolitan, she revealed why.

“Magazines have told me in the past, ‘We don’t want you on the cover. You’re not pretty enough,’” she explained. “And that’s OK. I’m unique… and I dig it.”

The pop sensation earned one of the biggest applauses of the night for her acrobatic, upside-down performance at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, and Pink explained she wasn’t ready for their commendations, either.

“I wasn’t expecting that at all, because the music industry is pretty jaded,” she told the mag. “They still don’t really know what I do.”

The rocker who once sang the line “I’m tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears” told the mag that her performances were the real thing.

“I sing and perform my ass off,” she said. I have never lip-synced – I don’t believe in it.”

Although she may be high-energy on stage, the singer added that she’s had to mellow out in her relationship with husband Carey Hart.

“I’m so dramatic… and in the past, I’ve been really mean,” she said. “Carey sat me down one day when we were fighting and said, ‘Baby, when you call me names, it hurts my feelings. Please try to stop.’ And I was like ‘Wow, thank you for telling me how you feel.’ Now I fight fair.”

Pink also noted that she’s getting closer to being ready for motherhood – eventually.

“At this point, we’re still trying not to, but I can’t wait to not try not to,” Pink said.
