‘Princess Diaries 3’ In The Works (Report)

Are audiences destined to see Mia Thermopolis in Genovia for a third time in another “Princess Diaries” movie?

According to Tracking Board, Disney is working on a third installment in the franchise that starred Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews.

The plot of the reported third movie is being kept under wraps and Anne may or may not be involved in the project. The studio is also looking at the possibility of rebooting the series.

Back in 2012, Dame Julie spoke to Access about the possibility of a third installment. The Oscar winner was skeptical of it going forward without Anne’s involvement.

“I would never say no because Disney’s so wonderfully clever and inventive, but I would think they’ll stay with just the two because of Annie,” she said at the time.

“The Princess Diaries” debuted in 2001 and was a hit with audiences and at the box office. A sequel, “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement,” hit theaters in 2004.
