‘Prison Break’ Returning For ‘Ultimate Escapist Event Series’

It’s official – “Prison Break” is returning to Fox.

The reboot of the series will once again star Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.

The reboot has been described by the network as the “Ultimate Escapist Event Series.”

“Prison Break’s” original producers — Paul T. Scheuring, Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Olmstead – are back, serving as executive producers. Paul will be the showrunner and pen the project.

Back at Comic-Con in San Diego over the summer, Dominic Purcell spoke about the then-possibility that the show would return.

“Everyone’s very excited about the possibilities for sure,” he told Access.

“It’s fun to go back,” he added. “‘Prison Break’ [has been] such a successful show internationally and domestically, but more so internationally. Everyone loved it and we have a really cool pitch idea, cool story.”

The “Prison Break” announcement occurred at the Fox portion of the Television Critics Association Executive Session on Friday.

Wentworth and Dominic were reunited on screen in The CW’s “The Flash” Season 1, playing Captain Cold/Leonard Snart and Heat Wave/Mick Rory. They are continuing to play those characters in “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” on The CW, which premieres Jan. 21 at 8/7c.
