Quentin Tarantino’s ‘The Hateful Eight’ Drops First Full-Length Trailer

Bundle up, Quentin Tarantino fans! The first trailer for “The Hateful Eight” has arrived.

Set “six or eight or 12 years” after the Civil War, the period Western follows a ruthless bounty hunter (Kurt Russell) known as “The Hangman” as he escorts wanted murderer Daisy (Jennifer Jason Leigh) through the Wyoming wilderness. The pair is forced to bunk at a remote stopover while waiting out a nasty blizzard, and encounters a few unsavory characters during their stay.

Samuel L. Jackson and Walton Goggins saddle up alongside Hangman and Daisy as a fellow bounty hunter and self-proclaimed “sheriff,” respectively, while Tarantino favorites like Christoph Waltz, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth and more round out the motley crew.

“One of them fellas is not what he says he is,” Hangman sneers of his new companions, as the gunslingers sink further into cabin fever.

Before long, tensions mount, accusations ensue and, of course, bullets fly.

The film looks to be incorporating narrative elements of Tarantino’s acclaimed “Django Unchained” and his 1992 breakout “Reservoir Dogs,” along with showcasing the director’s trademark flair for whip-smart dialogue and visual splendor.

Tarantino initially scrapped “Hateful Eight” after a widely-publicized script leak in early 2014, but the Oscar-winning screenwriter got the film back on track following a live reading with cast later that year.

The film will be available in 70mm limited release on Christmas Day, and rides into theaters nationwide on Jan. 8, 2016.
