Quinto Says ‘Star Trek’ Will Begin Filming In A Few Weeks

The newest installment of “Star Trek” will begin shooting in just a few weeks according to cast member Zachary Quinto.

“[Things kick off] pretty soon actually,” Quinto told Access Hollywood at Wednesday night’s “Rendition” premiere. “We start like, in a month.”

After gaining fame for his role as the evil Sylar on sci-fi hit “Heroes,” Quinto was snapped up by “Star Trek” producer J.J. Abrams for the role of Spock.

Though the lanky star could not confirm recent rumors that newcomer Chris Pine is joining the “Star Trek” cast as Captain Kirk, Quinto told Access Hollywood, the 27-year-old gets his vote.

“I know Chris,” Quinto said. “I think he is a phenomenal actor. I would certainly love to work with him and I feel like he would be a really strong choice.”

One thing Quinto can confirm is that he plans to hit the set of “Star Trek” early, thanks to the extreme makeup that goes into the Spock role.

“I’m anticipating some pretty early call times actually,” he laughed. “We gotta do the ears, the brows, the green tint down the skin. I imagine it will take a little while.”
