Rachel McAdams Talks Lindsay Lohan & Growing Up Naturally

Rachel McAdams is sweeping into theaters alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in “Sherlock Holmes” on Christmas Day. But she’s also hitting newsstands this month on the January 2010 cover of Vogue magazine.

And during her interview with the fashion mag, the actress opened up about life on another film set – “Mean Girls” – where she played one of Lindsay Lohan’s foes.

“I just remember marveling about how much she knew as an ac­tor, how much she understood,” Rachel told Vogue writer Sally Singer. “She did very few takes and had this naturalness to her. And beyond that, I was 26 at the time. I’d be asked, ‘Where do you go out?’”

While “Mean Girls” featured young women focused on image and popularity, Rachel told Singer she had a very natural youth in real life.

“My mother never put an emphasis on looks,” the actress said. “She let us grow up on our own time line. She never forced any beauty regimen into my world.”

In fact, things were so natural, she didn’t shave her legs in high school, something for which Rachel told Vogue’s writer she called her mom out.

”‘Why didn’t you tell me?’” Rachel said she asked her mom. “Once you start, there’s no turning back.”

These days though, Rachel is entirely glam – even more so on the mag’s cover with fancy curls and couture – a picture shot by famed photographer Mario Testino.
