Ralph Macchio is thrilled to have made it through the first elimination on “Dancing with the Stars” and he’s counting on next week to be just as special, as his wife is heading to town to join him.
“I’ve been married for 23 — turning 24 — years very soon,” Ralph revealed to Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson backstage at “DWTS” on Tuesday night regarding his lengthy relationship with wife Phyllis Fierro.
In fact, Ralph and Phyllis, the parents of two teenagers – Julia and Daniel – will celebrate their anniversary next week.
“It’s coming up,” he said with a smile.
Ralph noted that his debut “Dancing” score even had some special significance in relation to how many years he’s been married.
“24, which was our score the first week. How about that? For the numerologists out there,” the former “Ugly Betty” guest star said.
Ralph said that although he’ll be busy training with professional partner Karina Smirnoff, fans might get a peek into his anniversary celebrations with his wife on next week’s show.
“Well, you’re going to have to tune in next week to see,” he said. “I’m going to be here busy working, but my wife is going to be in town which is awesome ‘cause as you know, I’m on location out here.”
The New York native said he’s hoping to continue his smooth moves in the ballroom – he and Karina held the top leaderboard spot for the two-week opener – so that his children could be proud when they come to cheer on their dad.
“I think my son is coming,” Ralph said of teenage son Daniel. “My daughter is tied up in college, not able to break the wave, but depending on how long I last, she will get here. So, I’m motivated to stay in it so she can get to the spring break point and be here ‘cause I miss both of them. All of them.”
