Rapper T.I. & Wife Arrested On Drug Charges

Rapper T.I. and wife Tameka Cottle were arrested Wednesday night, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The 29-year-old rapper’s attorney, Steve Sadow, also confirmed the arrest to Access.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida told Access that during a traffic stop in West Hollywood, Calif. on Sunset Blvd officers claimed they “smelled a strong odor of marijuana” coming the rapper’s car, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr.

T.I. and wife, 36, were booked on felony possession of a controlled substance, Nishida confirmed to Access. The Sheriff’s Department did not release details on the specific substance or substances involved in the incident.

The couple’s bail was set at $10,000 each and they were released 4 AM on Thursday after posting bail.

According to their booking sheets, they are due in court Friday morning at 8:30 AM.

T.I. is currently on three years probation, which began in March 2010. He previously served seven months in prison and three months in a halfway house for federal weapons charges.

On Thursday a rep from Atlantic Records told Access, “T.I. is an important and valued member of our Atlantic family. It would be premature to speculate about the current situation given that there is an ongoing investigation of this matter.”

T.I. currently stars in the number 1 box office grossing movie in the country, “Takers.”
