Real Men Like Adam Levine Do Yoga! (Healthy Hollywood)

There seems to be a very wrongly held belief that real men don’t do yoga! That couldn’t be further from the truth.

For starters, Healthy Hollywood is seeing some pretty hot guys show up at my yoga class at New York’s Pure Yoga. The motivation could be the super fit gals in body-skimming outfits or maybe guys have heard that yoga whips you into shape and improves your sex life.

Still, not a believer, just look at the bodies of rock star Yogi’s like Adam Levine or Sting!

“I think that in this day and age people are realizing there is no use in having a bicep bigger than your head or quadriceps bigger than a tree trunk. The ‘lean and mean’ look is in,’ states yogi master Travis Eliot, who created “The Ultimate Yogi” DVD workout.

Eliot’s DVD is a multi-faceted fitness, health and wellness program. And, it’s perfect for the ladies, as well as the guys! “More and more men are realizing how incredible of a workout Yoga can be. I can’t tell you how many huge, muscular guys I’ve had in class how have been incredibly humbled. But, they keep coming back because nothing beats the ‘yoga high’ and there are lots of beautiful girls in class,” exclaims Travis!

Healthy Hollywood has tried to lure a number of my guy friends to hot yoga, not because I want to see them sweat, but because once you’ve experienced all the wonders yoga can do you want to pass it on. The biggest excuse I get is ‘they’re afraid to try it because they’re not flexible enough.’ “Isn’t it interesting that the things we avoid the most are usually the things we need the most?!

Look, yoga is a ‘come as you are party.’ Whatever state you are in, is all-good. What’s great about yoga is that you challenge yourself in a supportive, non-competitive, non-judgmental environment. Flexibility is the ‘fountain of youth.’ It keeps you young and injury resistant so it should be a key component to anyone that strives to be in his or her optimal state of health,” adds Travis.

So, guys, if you’re thinking of adding a little ‘ohm’ into your life, Travis shares these 4 tips.

  1. If you go to class that you don’t like then try another because you need to find the right instructor for you.
  2. Try and focus on the breathing and then everything will fall naturally into place.
  3. If you feel like you are flexibility challenged than have a block and a strap handy as they will make many postures more accessible.
  4. Remember ‘the journey of a thousand miles always begins with a single step.’ Just keep showing up, and with persistency you will notice huge improvements in all aspects of your life.
