Healthy Hollywood is super excited to connect with wellness guru Joe Cross, the man behind the documentary “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.” Over 10 million people have watched Joe’s 60-day juice journey back to health. Plus, he’s inspired millions to get well via juicing.
I first heard of Joe over a year ago when a friend of mine mentioned his documentary and how his juice regimen helped her lose weight and cured her allergies. I tried to hunt him down through his website, but at the time he was in his native country of Australia and I had no luck connecting. Alas, Joe is crossing over to the States, thanks to his new book, “The Reboot with Joe Juice Diet.”
Healthy Hollywood is feeling a bit sluggish after the long, cold winter – not to mention over the last few weeks I have overdone it in the food & wine department. So, I’m in desperate need of a reboot. Joe and his crew shared with me their 3-day juice detox plan to jumpstart my way back to robust health.
Before you begin any juice regimen, you first need to do an elimination diet for at least a week. This will help lessen any discomfort during your reboot. So, as of today, I am getting rid processed white food (not really my issue), will begin to lessen to my intake of animal-based protein (not too hard since I’m basically a plant-based eater and I also need to wean off dairy products (again not my go-to).
The two things that will be tough to eliminate is my daily coffee intake and my nightly glass of wine. Plus, Joe suggests adding at least one juice to your daily intake. So, here I am, drinking a green juice as I write this post. Please, give me the strength to do this!
Joe lays out his various juice plans in detail in his new book. I am going to try the simplest one and see how it goes. During my 3-day juice, I will drink 4 to 6 glasses of fresh juice and 64 ounces of additional liquids (including lots of water, coconut water and herbal teas). Joe advises your juice concoctions should be 80 percent vegetables and 20 percent fruit.
Joe shares with Healthy Hollywood the benefits one can expect in 3 days:
- Reset your system to crave healthy foods
- Jumpstart weight loss
- Boost your immune system
- romote clear, beautiful skin
- Ease digestion
Of course, if you’re game you can go longer. It’s up to your comfort zone and what you’re looking to achieve.
I hope to begin my 3-day juice sometime next week and hopefully will be able to post all the wonderful things that happened to my mind & body.
