Reese Witherspoon Thanks Mindy Kaling For Wreath Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon expressed her gratitude for Mindy Kaling’s “Wreath Witherspoon” gift.

“Mindy has started this thing, Wreath Witherspoon. It’s hard to say, but she was so sweet,” Reese told Access Hollywood‘s Shaun Robinson on the red carpet for the SAG Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles. “She sent me one for the Oscars nomination and [it’s] just very creative. It showed her floral abilities. She also writes, directs, acts and she arranges flowers beautifully.”

Reese posted a photo on Instagram last Sunday showing the wreath hanging on the front door to her home. The pink and purple floral arrangement was adorned with golden Oscar statues and a photo of the “Wild” star.

Reese is nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars – an award she already won in 2006 for “Walk the Line.”

The part in “Wild” also earned her a SAG nomination in the Best Actress category, putting her up against Rosamund Pike for “Gone Girl,” a film in which Reese served as a producer on. (The award ultimately went to Julianne Moore for “Still Alice.”)

Reese told Shaun she’s happy to see women continuing to be a strong force in Hollywood.

“It’s so exciting, you know. All I’ve set out to do with my company two years ago was to create more interesting leading parts for women in film and so to have ‘Gone Girl’ and ‘Wild’ has been such a dream come true and now I have a movie coming out with Sofia Vergara, a comedy, so it’s been really fun and it’s great to see how receptive other actors are to that idea,” she explained.

Reese also referenced a speech she once heard Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint recite about perseverance.

“She said the most beautiful thing at this women in Hollywood event,” Reese recalled. “She said, ‘You know, I’ve been at the front of the bus, I’ve been in the back of the bus, the important thing is to just stay on the bus, ladies. Stay on the bus.’ I thought that was so smart because, you know, career ups and downs, we all have them, but the most important thing is we’re artists and we’re making art and sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s not good, but people out there love movies and movies last forever, so when you put your heart and soul into it, I think people can tell.”
