Rep: Mariah Carey Did Not Lip Sync On American Idol Finale

Mariah Carey’s “American Idol” Season 12 Grand Finale medley performance may have been pre-recorded, but she did not lip-sync, according to a rep for the singing superstar.

The Season 12 judge actually recorded her performance three times and the vocals were live each time, Mimi’s rep told Access Hollywood on Friday.

Her performance was taped on Wednesday, in front of an audience at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Pre-taping musical perfomances is something that is done on many shows, including “The Voice” and “Dancing with the Stars.”

It was unclear if the performance that was broadcast on Thursday was one take or a combination of her three different takes of the medley.

During the Wednesday night pre-recording, Mariah performed additional songs for the audience in between takes, her rep told Access.

A rep for FOX had no comment when contacted by Access Hollywood.
