Report: ABC Renews ‘Ugly Betty’ For Fourth Season

ABC may have scared “Ugly Betty” fans everywhere when it announced an open-ended hiatus for the show, but now it’s rumored that “Betty” will be picked up for a fourth season.

Sources confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the series is on the verge of being renewed, although a publicist for the network said that ABC is “not ready to announce any pick-ups at this point.”

ABC previously announced that the “Betty” time slot would be temporarily replaced by Christina Applegate in “Samantha Who?”, and a new series called “In The Motherhood.”

The network publicist may not have been ready to announce early pick-ups, however a spokesperson for ABC said, “The hiatus is in no way meant to reflect a loss in faith for the show, which remains a large part of ABC’s identity” and promised that “Ugly Betty” “will be back in that timeslot.”
