Report: Hawkeye To Make Cameo In ‘Thor,’ A Full Year Before ‘Avengers’ Release

Jeremy Renner was unveiled as “The Avengers” cast member Hawkeye at Comic-Con back in July, but it looks like he’ll appear on the big screen as the master bow and arrow wielder much sooner.

According to The Wrap, Hawkeye has a cameo in “Thor,” the superhero film fronted by Australian hunk Chris Hemsworth, which is due out on May 6, 2011.

A source which saw an early version of “Thor,” told the website that Renner’s bow-wielding Hawkeye is definitely in the upcoming “Thor” film.

The source did not specify how Renner’s character features into the action hero movie.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the film will follow Thor as he is cast out of the land of the gods, only to find himself battling the dark forces of Asgard on Earth and becoming a hero to the humans.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Hemsworth said “Thor” will satisfy fanboys and fangirls alike.

“I have the hammer, it’s pretty true to the comics,” Chris told Access back in March. “I have a long blond wig and a nice big red cape and all sorts of armor and interesting bits and pieces.”

He also revealed that the movie will be a hybrid of the various comic book incarnations over the years.

“There’s so many different versions of the comic books, they’ve sort of bonded quite a few of them to form this particular story, but it’s all very true to the original stuff,” he continued.

“The Avengers,” which rounds up Hemsworth, Renner, Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) and Don Cheadle (War Machine) isn’t due out until May 4, 2012 — a year after “Thor.”
