Report: Jon Gosselin Countersues TLC For $5M

Jon Gosselin is reportedly responding to TLC’s lawsuit against him with a countersuit for $5 million.

According to People, the reality dad is fighting back after TLC filed a suit against him claiming breach of contract.

In the suit, Gosselin claims that the network hurt his career and reputation by not allowing him to work with other media outlets. The reality dad claims that TLC went so far as to actively convince numerous media outlets to stop working with him.

“Their behavior has caused Jon great anguish and it has caused him financial losses,” Gosselin’s lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, told the mag.

Earlier in the week, Radar Online reported that the 32-year-old dad “is likely to argue that TLC is preventing him from earning a living with a contract that is too restrictive,” Radar reported.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, TLC announced it was filing suit against Jon last month over breach of contract.

The lawsuit, filed in Maryland, alleges that the dad of eight hasn’t met the obligations of his contract as an exclusive employee, has appeared on other programs for pay and has made unauthorized disclosures about the show.

In a statement to Access Hollywood, Heller previously responded to the allegations, calling the suit a “baseless action.”

A judge granted motions for TLC’s lawyers to depose Gosselin’s former friend, Michael Lohan, along with girlfriend Hailey Glassman and members of Gosselin’s staff, in the suit that begins in a Maryland court on December 14.

According to Radar, Gosselin currently does not have formal representation in Maryland. His current lawyer, Heller, is not licensed to practice in the state.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, TLC had no comment.
