Report: Katherine Heigl & T.R. Knight Leaving ‘Grey’s’

Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving “Grey’s Anatomy,” according to their co-star, James Pickens Jr.

“Yes, she is,” James, who plays “The Chief,” Dr. Richard Webber on the show, told Us Weekly, when asked if Katherine was departing.

“Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best,” he added.

And T.R., who plays Dr. George O’Malley, is also expected to leave.

“He’s going too,” James told the mag. “He just wanted to pursue other career paths.”

However, a source close to the show told Access Hollywood that James “jumped the gun,” in revealing the exiting news and that no official decision had been made regarding the two actors’ employment on the show.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, a rep for James said the actor made the comments based on information he already thought was out there. But, the rep said James is not privy to employment information at the show.

While reps for Katherine and T.R. had no comment when contacted by Access Hollywood over James’ remarks, a report has emerged that George is already being written out of the show.

A source on the “Grey’s” set reportedly told Us Weekly that the writers are working on composing a finale for T.R.

“Writers are scrambling to find a believable exit for George, one that would leave the door open for him to come back someday,” the source said.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, reps for the show were unavailable for comment.
