Report: Nicole Scherzinger Replacing Cheryl Cole As Judge On ‘The X Factor’

She was expected to be introduced to American audiences as a judge this fall on “The X Factor,” but according to a new report, British pop singer Cheryl Cole will no longer be appearing on the show.

Although Cheryl has already taken part in several of the audition rounds in front of live audiences in Los Angeles, TMZ reported on Wednesday that Cheryl is leaving the bench.

TMZ reported that Nicole Scherzinger — who was previously announced as a co-host of the show alongside another new Brit to America, Steve Jones — will now sit alongside Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and L.A. Reid at the judge’s bench, in place of Cheryl.

A rep for Nicole was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access Hollywood.

Nicole actually filled in for Cheryl, who, until recently was a judge of the UK version of the show.

Cheryl had malaria last year and Nicole, whose profile was boosted by her Season 10 win on “Dancing with the Stars” in May 2010, and her judging on NBC’s “The Sing Off,” stepped in for several weeks on the overseas program.

Nicole was praised in the British press for her work on the show.

A rep for “The X Factor” was not immediately available to comment on the reported judges change when contacted by Access Hollywood on Wednesday.
