Report: Paris Hilton Arrested In South Africa, To Appear In World Cup Court

Paris Hilton has been arrested in South Africa, according to reports.

South Africa’s News24 reported that it had confirmed that the celebutante was arrested on a “drug related charge.”

According to South Africa’s DispatchOnline, Hilton was at the Brazil vs. Netherlands World Cup match when she was taken out of the stadium by police. Around 8 PM local time, the heiress was brought to the Mount Road Police station in St. Croix, the website reported

News24 claimed she is expected to appear in World Cup court on Friday evening.

“There is an inquiry… I don’t want to comment further” Provincial Head of Detectives in Port Elizabeth, Mark Magadlela told DispatchOnline. An unnamed police officer told the Associated Press that the heiress was found with marijuana, which is known locally as “dagga.”

“She was found in possession of some amount of dagga,” the officer told the news service. “We don’t know how much. It’s a high profile person, only the top cops are dealing with it.”

A rep for the reality star said a statement was forthcoming when contacted by Access Hollywood on Friday afternoon.

Paris herself made no mention of the arrest, Tweeting, “South Africa is such a beautiful place. Loves it!” around the time she was expected in court on Friday night.
