Report: Taylor Lautner Lands Lead in ‘Max Steel’

Taylor Lautner not only looks like a superhero, but now he’ll be playing one too.

The 17-year-old heartthrob, who won fans over with as his portrayal of werewolf Jacob Black in “The Twilight Saga,” just landed the lead as Paramount’s next big action hero “Max Steel,” according to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily. The LA Times was the first to report the rumor Thursday evening.

The film is based on the successful international Mattel property, and will be directed by Joe Roth.

Mattel also recently announced that they would be releasing a Taylor-inspired Jacob Black Barbie doll (with major plastic abs) when the “New Moon” DVD is released in February 2010.

The star will certainly have a busy schedule this upcoming year with the production of the third and fourth installments of “The Twilight Saga” (as well as a rumored possible fifth film).

His movie, “Valentine’s Day” with Taylor Swift will also be hitting theaters February 14, 2010. The two Taylors were seen together this past Thursday night getting frozen yogurt together in Beverly Hills after dining at Benihana.

If they get married someday, we’d like to randomly point out (just for fun) that her name could be Taylor Lautner too!
