Report: The CW Orders Pilots For ‘Carrie Diaries,’ ‘Beauty & The Beast’

Carrie Bradshaw could be heading back to television.

The CW has ordered a pilot for “The Carrie Diaries,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

“The Carrie Diaries” book series from Candace Bushnell focus on a younger, late teenaged Carrie, who is finishing her last year of high school.

It was not clear if the new show would feature Carrie’s later-in-life “Sex and The City” best friends, including Samantha Jones, who was featured in “Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel,” or Miranda Hobbes, who was also in the book, which was released in April 2011.

In related news, The CW also confirmed a pilot order for “Beauty and the Beast.”

The 1980s-90s television series originally starred Linda Hamilton and “Sons of Anarchy’s” Ron Perlman.

Entertainment Weekly first reported the news.
