According to Nielsen Soundscan, the 23-year-old has racked up a whopping 47.5 million digital downloads of her music with hits like “Umbrella,” “S&M” and “We Found Love.”
Coming in 5 million downloads shy is The Black Eyed Peas with 42.4 million downloads, and Eminem in third, with 42.2 million tracks bought digitally.
Katy Perry earned the title of most played artist of 2011 with 1.4 million plays of her songs on the radio, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
When it came to streaming music, Lady Gaga reigned over the internet with 135 million steams last year.
