Rising Star: Logan Lerman

Logan Lerman might not be a household name just yet, but the young star of “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” has already worked with some of the movie industry’s biggest names – and now, he’s AccessHollywood.com’s latest Rising Star.

Logan is just 18, but he has already worked alongside Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Catherine Keener, Uma Thurman and Pierce Brosnan – and with the release of “Percy Jackson,” he’s about to step into his own spotlight.

AccessHollywood.com caught up with Logan just hours before he saw the final cut of “Percy” at the film’s New York premiere on Thursday. He told Access that he tried make the character his own – and didn’t worry about the fans’ expectations.

“I didn’t focus on that at all. It didn’t really even cross my mind a little bit,” he said when asked about starring in a movie based on the popular book series. “I just spent so much time making sure that Percy was a character. It’s not me playing Percy… I can separate myself from him. I changed a lot of the characteristics myself to make sure that he can stand on his own.”

Depending on how well “Percy” does at the box office, he could be standing for a number of further films.

“There are five books. I’m signed on to do three. I’d love to do all of them. It just all depends on how many people see the film,” he told Access.

And if Logan gets his wish, “Percy” will be standing side by side with two other great Hollywood teen adventure film series.

“Do I want it to be as successful and do I want it to be as loved as the ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Twilight’ films are? Yeah, of course!” Logan said “But you can only hope, I just did my part and tried to make a good film and all that.”

In the trailer for “Percy,” Logan appears to possibly get an onscreen kiss from co-star Alexandra Daddario, but he remained coy on the details.

“I can’t give any of that away, I don’t want to spoil anything in the movie or any plots,” he said. “But there is romance in the movie, I will definitely tell you that.”

Earlier on Thursday, Logan spoke with Billy Bush for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show,” where he revealed that he is in talks with Sony to play Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot – and Sony noted to The Hollywood Reporter that the star is indeed on a short list of actors under consideration for the role.

“It’s one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it,” he said about the web-slinger. “It’s just, you know, conversations are starting. It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course. I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience.”

But before Logan possibly suits up in red and blue spandex to fight the evildoers of the Marvel Comics universe, the actor said he’s eyeing a few other projects and possibly even hitting the books.

“I’m looking at a few films, but nothing has been finalized yet. Once I’m done with all the ‘Percy’ craziness, I’m going to probably sign on to the one that I really want to do next,” he explained, adding that not only acting might be in his future. “I’d love to weigh all of my options and I’d love the opportunity to go to [college,] of course.”

“Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” opens in theaters on February 12.
