Robert Downey Jr. thoroughly enjoyed making his upcoming comedy, “Due Date” alongside the hilarious Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan, and his wife, Susan.
“This was the easiest, best work experience I’ve ever had,” Robert told Access Hollywood at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Thursday.
“Due Date” was a family affair for the “Iron Man” star, whose wife, Susan Downey, executive produced the comedy.
“That’s how we like it,” Robert told Access, of going to work with Susan. “And then we realize if it starts becoming more stressful than it is fun, then we just have to re-evaluate why we like doing it so much.”
“Due Date” was also a thrill for Michelle Monaghan, who marks her return to the big screen with the project.
After action-intensive films “Mission Impossible III” and “Eagle Eye,” Monaghan, who gave birth to her daughter in 2008, said stepping in to play Robert’s pregnant wife in “Due Date,” was easy.
“Honestly, pardon the pun, [‘Due Date’] wasn’t very labor intensive for me,” Michelle told Access, laughing. “It was really the ideal job to come back to. I didn’t have to leave my daughter for very long, it was a really fun job.
“[Robert Downey Jr.] is a fantastic guy — so I jumped at the chance to do this film,” she added.
Juliette Lewis, who plays a pot dealer in the film, also sang Robert’s praises.
“It was so fun to work with Robert Downey [Jr.] again,” Juliette told Access. “I hadn’t worked with him since ‘Natural Born Killers.’”
“Due Date” hits theaters on November 5.
