Robert Downey Jr.: ‘The Avengers’ Is Going To Be ‘Something Extraordinary’

The 2011 Golden Globes was filled with superheroes last night, including Captain America and Thor, and the man behind Iron Man – Robert Downey Jr. – told Access Hollywood fans have something to look forward to when they assemble for the upcoming “The Avengers.”

Access’ Billy Bush caught up with Robert on the Globes red carpet on Sunday night, where he gave us the scoop on the highly anticipated Marvel movie.

“I think we’re going to do something extraordinary,” the actor told Billy when asked about “The Avengers.”

Robert explained that he’s met with his co-stars, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Chris Evans (Captain America) — who both presented together on Sunday night — and they plan on making a stellar movie that the fans have been longing to see.

“If we work really hard, I think we’ll have something worth it,” he continued.

While Robert joined his fellow stars for a good time at the Globes, Sunday night’s festivities did not signal a vacation for the big screen star.

“The funny thing is we’re almost done shooting the second ‘Sherlock’ movie, so we were just in London five seconds ago and we flew in to do this,” Robert told Billy, explaining he’s heading right back to England. “We have like three more weeks of shooting.”
