Robert Downey Jr. & Wife Expecting First Child Together

Robert Downey Jr. is set to be a father for a second time.

The actor and wife Susan Downey are expecting their first child together, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

“Robert and Susan could not be more excited over this news,” actor’s rep told People, who first reported the news. “They can’t wait to welcome this new baby into their wonderful family.”

The 46-year-old star of “The Avengers” is already a father to son Indio, 17, who he had with ex-wife Deborah Falconer.

Just last year, Robert predicted that he and Susan would be expanding their family.

“I think I will be wrist-deep in doo-doo within 18 months. I’m calling it right here,” he told the mag in 2010.

The star also said a baby girl would fit in well in their household.

“I think we should probably try to have a girl because I don’t want another male entity to have to compete,” he said at the time. “I don’t want Indio to feel there’s another boy in my life. But I don’t know what we’d have to do [to have a girl]. Do we have to put it in a spoon and hang it upside-down?”

Robert and Susan wed in August 2005.
