Robin Thicke Becomes A Dad, Tourmate Alicia Keys Offers Congratulations From The Stage

Robin Thicke is a dad.

The soulful crooner’s wife, Paula Patton, gave birth to the couple’s first child on Tuesday evening, a son named Julian, a rep for the singer confirmed to Access Hollywood.

“Paula Patton and Robin Thicke had a boy named Julian Fuego on Tuesday, April 6 in Los Angeles,” his rep told Access. “Mother, Father and son are all doing well.”

Tourmate Alicia Keys was actually the first to confirm the baby’s birth, offering congratulations to the new dad on stage during her Tuesday night show at the Los Angeles Staples Center.

The soulful crooner pulled out of his slot opening for Alicia on her “Freedom” tour earlier on Tuesday evening, but no reason was given at the time, according to the Los Angeles Times. A rep later told the paper he was not going to be at the show for “personal reasons.”

A source told Access Hollywood on Tuesday night, however, that the singer pulled out of the show because his wife had gone into labor.

Paula became pregnant in Fall 2009. She told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson earlier this year that her due date was May 23.

Last year, Robin told Essence magazine that his biggest fear related to becoming a father had to do with time and patience.

“I’m afraid of not being patient enough, but most of the time that’s when I’m scared or worried about the future,” he said. “I want to work on that. But my biggest fear is being able to be there, because I don’t know if kids ever think their parents were there enough.”

Robin added that he was looking forward to teaching his son basketball.

A rep for Robin was not immediately available for comment.
