Roll Call: Beyonce’s Role Model & Aniston’s New Focus

Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans: August 17, 2007 by Tommy Vergason

LASTING IMPRESSION: Making time for fans is very important to Beyonce, because she was once treated so well by one of her own idols: Will Smith. She told USA TODAY how nice Smith was to her (and everyone else) when she attended a “Men in Black” soundtrack signing when she was 15: “We were the last people he met. I said, ‘I don’t care if I ever get that famous: I will always be like him.’”

PRAISING PITT: Brad Pitt has also made an impression with his kindness…and generosity. A security guard at Chicago’s Field Museum reportedly told USMAGAZINE.COM that Brad & Angelina Jolie “were a nice couple” when they brought their kids for a visit last weekend, and claimed that Brad gave him a $300 tip for “looking after the family” while they were there.

AMICABLE PARTING: Jennifer Aniston & British model Paul Sculfor have “gone their separate ways” and are focusing on their respective careers, PEOPLE reports, but Sculfor’s rep reportedly said that “they are friends.” Aniston and Sculfor were rumored to be in a budding relationship earlier this summer.

SUPER SEACREST: The Fox network is hoping to make “friends” with non-sports fans by hiring Ryan Seacrest as the master of ceremonies for their Super Bowl coverage. VARIETY reports that Seacrest will handle pre-game hosting duties as celebrities stream in to the game this February. The hiring of a red carpet host is a “first” for a Super Bowl telecast.

BECKS BLOGS: Soccer is enjoying unprecedented attention in the U.S. thanks to British import David Beckham, and he wrote on his official blog yesterday how happy he was about his first starting game with the LA Galaxy team: “To actually score a goal in my first proper home match was more than I could have hoped for, and an intensely amazing moment for me.”

HEROIC EFFORT: “Heroes” star Ali Larter had a great time acting in the movie “Marigold,” as a B-rate actress who nabs a role in a Bollywood musical. But when it came to dancing? “I’m not good,” she reportedly told TV GUIDE. “Put me in a club and I can dance till dawn. If you put me in a situation where I have to land on a mark? That presents a bit of a challenge.”
