ROLL CALL: Montag’s Presidential Endorsement & Beck’s Undies

Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenaningans

Beck’s Mum Not A Fan Of His Undies: It turns out not everyone was a fan of the David Beckham Emporio Armani underwear ads that were splattered around the globe on billboards and magazines — most importantly — David Beckham’s mom. The soccer star told Jay Leno Tuesday on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “When the photos came out, she was the first one to call me and say, ‘What are you doing?’ I had to try and explain it to her and it didn’t go down that well.” He was answering the hopes and dreams of millions, is what he was doing.

Jamie Lynn’s Post Pregnancy Wedding Plans?: Don’t expect Jamie Lynn Spears and boyfriend Casey Aldridge to tie the knot before the baby arrives, at least according to a source close to Brit’s sister, OK! Magazine reports. The source claims Jamie Lynn and Casey are planning to get hitched at Britney’s estate, “Serenity,” but after she gives birth. “She’ll have the baby there, and soon after, she will also get married there,” the source told of the mag. “I expect she’ll want to wait at least several months to get her figure back so she can wear a beautiful wedding gown and then have her dream wedding.” Because what girl doesn’t dream about getting married at 17?

Montag Endorses McCain: It’s not a real election until Heidi Montag gets involved! In yet another celebrity endorsement, “Hills” star and aspiring singer, Heidi Montag, is weighing in on the upcoming 2008 Presidential election saying, “I’m voting for John McCain. I’m a Republican and McCain has a lot of experience,” she told Us Magazine. And where there is Heidi, there is Spencer, who was quick to say, “I don’t think anyone cares who Heidi Montag votes for.” Though we never thought it would happen and we’re not exactly proud to admit it… Spencer Pratt is right.

Mariah Tops Elvis: Mariah has scored yet another milestone, landing another No. 1 single with “Tough My Body,” Billboard reports. Her first single from “E=MC2” surpasses Elvis Presley’s record of 17 No. 1’s. If Mariah lands three more number one singles, she’ll beat the Beatles all-time record of 20 No. 1 singles. We think Elvis would be proud to be surpassed by a song, asking you to touch Mariah.

Only Animal Shelters For Oprah: In sad news, Oprah’s cocker spaniel Sophie recently passed away due to kidney failure. Turning tragedy into an opportunity to educate, Oprah is dedicating Friday’s show to the late Sophie with a Lisa Ling investigation into the horrible practice of puppy mills, the Associated Press reports. Oprah says Ling’s report is, “for anybody anywhere who loves a dog, has ever loved a dog or just cares about their basic right to humane treatment.” The show was so powerful it has already made Oprah rethink her approach to pets. She told her audience, “I would never, ever adopt another pet now without going to a shelter to do it. I am a changed woman after seeing this show.”
